You’ve written a historical fiction manuscript and are looking for an experienced book editor to take your manuscript to the next level.

Are you an author of historical fiction?

If you’re as passionate about writing historical fiction as I am about editing it, we may be a perfect fit. And if your book is set in France, my experience of living and working in France will bring even more value to your investment in my editing services.

You may have a rough draft of your historical fiction manuscript that you’d like assessed for elements of writing craft. Or, maybe your manuscript is ready for a line or copyedit. You may even have the final proof of your book and need an expert eye to carefully check it before it lands in your readers’ hands. No matter what your needs are, I have an editing service to suit you.

I’m a trained editor with years of experience editing fiction and have worked on over 100 books. I’m an Advanced Professional Member of the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (CIEP), and a Partner Member of the Alliance of Independent Authors (ALLi).

I edit book manuscripts set in most historical periods and across a range of genres, including mystery/thriller, romance and action/adventure.

Why hire me as your historical fiction editor and proofreader?

My A Level in Early Modern History and degree in French and Portuguese (language and literature) from the University of Oxford gave me a grounding in historical fiction.

Since then, I’ve taken respected editing courses (such as those provided by CIEP) and have edited over 100 books, including many historical fiction (and historical time-travel!) titles. I’m used to working with first-time authors and will gently guide you through the process, ensuring your historical fiction manuscript is treated with care and respect.

For full edits, you will receive your manuscript with suggestions in tracked changes and comments, a bespoke style sheet including character lists, setting descriptions and a timeline, and weekly progress reports.
